Lead Refining Kettles – Design and Manufacture
Refinery Supplies Ltd manufactures bespoke lead refining kettles for primary and secondary lead refineries worldwide.
Our experience ranges from 4.5-tonne kettles used in the manufacture of lead strip for windows to 300-tonne kettles for primary refineries processing galena and recovering precious metals.
Each kettle is engineered around the customer's process, working capacity, available space and material requirements. We manufacture in thicknesses from 20 mm to 50 mm using carefully selected materials intended to support reliable service life.
Materials and construction
Built for the refining process
Material selection is matched to the operating process and specification. Options include carbon steel, high-quality modified boiler steel, stainless steel, stainless/carbon-clad steel and chrome-molybdenum steels.
Bespoke engineering
Working drawings and manufacturing details developed for the required capacity, geometry, installation and refinery process.
Controlled fabrication
Manufacture in our Middleton, Manchester facility using specialist welding equipment, rotators and purpose-built positioners.
Heat treatment
In-house stress relieving and normalising are available in our computer-controlled furnace, subject to the project specification.
Testing and inspection
Inspection by our Quality Engineers, with impartial subcontract NDT and third-party inspection accommodated where required.
Associated equipment
We also design and manufacture furnace settings, kettle covers, hygiene hoods, platforms and associated refinery fabrications.
Project documentation
Manufacturing, material, heat-treatment and inspection records can be compiled into the project data dossier.
Quality assurance
Manufactured with traceable quality controls
Our quality system supports the controlled manufacture and inspection of specialist refinery equipment. Project requirements can include material traceability, dimensional inspection, non-destructive testing, heat-treatment records and signed certification.

In-house stress relieving and normalising are available where specified. Radiography, ultrasonic, dye penetrant and magnetic-particle inspection can be arranged through impartial specialist subcontractors.
